“On Thursday, 02/09/12, an ESF student reported to University Police that he was the victim of an unprovoked attack which occurred on the ESF quad. The student was walking across the grassy area of the quad from Marshall Hall when he was tackled by someone he believed to be a fellow student. The victim assumed the attack to be in response to his walking on the grass.
Unfortunately this is not a unique occurrence as we have investigated similar cases in the past. We understand that some ESF students react strongly when the quad is violated in such a manner, but there is a difference between having a conversation with someone less informed and an outright criminal act perpetrated under the guise of fostering a tradition.
In closing, we want to stress that this behavior is unacceptable and future occurrences will be dealt with in the appropriate manner.
If you have any questions regarding this issue or information regarding Thursday’s incident please don’t hesitate to connect me.” -ESF POLICE
